Trip Overview

The Mardi Himal trek begins in the city of Pokhara from a relatively warmer area, which then moves through the mid hills alpine regions through tranquil woodlands. Located on the other side of the Annapurna Sanctuary, adjacent to the towering Machhapuchhre (6,993 m), the Mardi Himal trek is an ideal choice for a short adventurous trek over natural trails.

Considered to be one of the least visited parts of the Annapurna region, the landscape changes quite abruptly on the way to the Mardi Himal trek and offers you a chance to glimpse the rich cultural diversity. The trail leads through stone-built villages, past the enchanting woodlands with pine and rhododendron trees. The trail continues on the forested path until the elevation of 3,300 m and then enters the rugged mountain terrains with incredible views of Mardi Himal, Machhapuchhre, and Annapurna South.

What to expect in Mardi Himal Trek?

This trek is comparatively a short trek around the Annapurna region. Yet, the routes could be strenuous mainly because of the altitude. Within four days you get to climb from from 1600m to 4500m, gaining around 800-1000m each day. So expect a lot of ascents.

With the change in altitude comes a change in the landscape which is quite dramatic in this trek while moving from the lust green forests towards the snowy mountains. On the way, the cultural and traditional practices of the region can also be witnessed. The people are warm and very hospitable.

So, you can expect a memorable trek that is filled with adventurous trails, beautiful forests and the glorious mountains.

Day 01
Drive from Pokhara to Phedi and trek to Dhampus

After a hearty breakfast, we depart from our hotel in Pokhara via the drive. After approximately 4 hours of driving through a scenic landscape, we will reach Phedi. We start our trek from Phedi and walk towards the beautiful Gurung village of Dhampus. And then overnight at a lodge.

Day 02
Trek to Forest Camp

After a pleasant overnight, we begin our walk on the main trekking trail with splendid views of landscapes and snow-capped peaks. We head towards north through serene forested areas to reach our overnight stop in Forest Camp.

Day 03
Trek to High Camp

From the dense forest, we walk towards the higher ground of the trek. We slowly leave the woods behind and enter the rocky mountain terrains. After approximately 6 hours, we reach our overnight stop at High Camp.

Day 04
Trek to Mardi Himal Base Camp and further to Low Camp

After the pleasant sleep, we head towards the Mardi Himal Base Camp. We follow along with the spectacular close range views of the mountains and surrounding landscape throughout the day. We then descend towards the Low Camp for overnight stay.

Trek to Sidhing

Next morning, we descend towards the village of Sidhing leaving the snow-capped mountains behind. We stay at a local lodge for the night.

Trek to Hyangjakot and drive to Pokhara

On the final day of the trek, we trek to Hyangjakot from Sidhing and then drive back to the amazing city of Pokhara for an overnight stay.
