Early morning drive on a private vehicle from Kathmandu to Sundarijal. This hour-long drive will take us from the bustling city of Kathmandu to scenic villages and serene landscape. Upon arriving at Sundarijal, we start our walk on steep stone steps alongside the Bagmati river. We then pass through densely forested areas to Shivapuri National Park where we get to enjoy the panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. The trail follows downhill on the ridge into the forest of rhododendron and oak to Chisapani.
After an early morning breakfast, we trek to Chauki Bhyanganj which is our lunch point for a day. After the lunch, we walk for another 3-hour downhill to reach Nagarkot, where on a clear day you can see the Himalayas stretching from Dhaulagiri in the west all the way past Everest to Kanchenjunga in the east.
The day starts off with the glories sunrise along with the excellent views of the snow-capped peaks. After the breakfast, we continue our journey towards Changu Narayan which takes approximately 3 hours. One amazing thing is to see how the local villages along the trail still exhibit the countryside lifestyle even though they're so close to the city. The Himalayas appear undisturbed. From here, most of the trail leads to a gradual downhill. After about 3 hours of gradual walk, we arrive at Changu Nayaran, Nepal's oldest pagoda style temple. After exploring this UNESCO world heritage site, we drive back to Kathmandu to end our a day hiking tour.
