Lumbini Peace Marathon, a one-of-a-kind marathon the is a unique event held at the birthplace of Lord Buddha in Lumbini, Nepal. The Marathon will be held on 20 March 2019. The thematic Marathon follows the life of Lord Buddha in his journey towards Enlightenment.
Lumbini Peace Marathon starts at the Capital of the Shakya Kingdom, the home of Prince Siddhartha and follows the route he took to escape the palace. . The routes then move towards historic locations in Lumbini following Prince Siddhartha’s journey to become Lord Buddha. The marathon finally ends at Maya Devi Temple the birth place of Lord Buddha.
Currently a six day itinerary is on the line that will allow participants to visit important Buddhist sites directly related with the life of Lord Budha such as visits to Maya Devi Temple where Buddha was born and Kudan where Lord Buddha handed over the Buddhist Religion to his son and brother. The marathon starts from Tilaurakot the capital city of Buddha’s father’s kingdom and goes through Gothihawa, Kudan, Taulihawa, Dohani, Barrohiya, Pakadi, Labani finally ending at Maya Devi Garden which are important Buddhist pilgrim sites.
